Subject: kbhit() equivalent under BSD?

I'm helping a friend of mine move some MSDOS code to Unix, and we need to
write a function equivalent to MS-DOG's kbhit(). We can see how to do
this under Sys 5, but it looks like BSD curses doesn't support nobreak(),
cbreak(), and a couple of other calls we could use.

Any help?
