New versions of the NetBSD 0.8 install1 floppy and the NetBSD 0.8
kernel copy floppies are now available for anonymous ftp.

Fixes include the following:

for the kernel copy floppies:
The kernel-copy floppies have been updated with new kernels which have
	the following fixes contained within:

        	(1) the telnet localhost when no other network interfaces are
configured and NetBSD reboots" problem has been fixed.
	        (2) serial ports are now correctly configured at com0 and com1
        	(3) support for QMAGIC, a better executable format. the old
                	executable format is still supported.
	        (4) SLIP support now configured into the kernel

There are other various and sundry changes, too numerous to mention
here, but none which should jump up and grab you.

for the install1 floppy:
the bootblocks in /usr/mdec are now the correct size. this should
fix the problems with bad144 which some users have been experiencing.

NOTE: if you're currently running NetBSD, you should copy
the files from /usr/mdec on this floppy to your hard disk.
If you're installing NetBSD for the first time, after
you're done installing, you should copy these files to the
hard disk, because they will be overwritten by the installation
	process.

to do this do something like:
put the floppy in the floppy drive
		mount /dev/fd0a /mnt
			[ /dev/fd0a for "drive A", /dev/fd1a for "drive B" ]
		cd /mnt/usr/mdec ; tar cvf - . | (cd /usr/mdec ; tar xvf -)
		cd /
		umount /mnt

the new versions are named:
kc-aha.fs1 the new kc-aha floppy image
	kc-aha.fs1.z " " " " " gzipped
kc-ahbbt.fs1 the new kc-ahbbt floppy image
	kc-ahbbt.fs1.z " " " " " gzipped
install1.fs2 the new install1 floppy image
	install1.fs2.z " " " " " gzipped

they are currently available from
sun-lamp.cs.berkeley.edu:/NetBSD/NetBSD-0.8/floppies
agate.berkeley.edu:/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-0.8/floppies

and will probably eventually become available at the NetBSD distribution
sites listed below (and other places, too... 8-).
