I have tried to send e-mail to the listed mailing address in the NetBSD
install notes...my mailer did not like it. Has anyone else had this
problem? Please, if someone in the NetBSD group of gurus are reading this...
here is my question :

Hi,
I have been trying to get NetBSD to install over my existing 386BSD
partition. I get the kc-aha.fs floppy to boot. Then I stick in the
install1.fs1 floppy and I get a Trap 18 panic error and it asks me to
press reset please. I have tried downloading the install1.fs1 numerous
times, thinking it was me. I have rawrite, and Norton DiskEdit....same
results, using more than one disk on each utility (maybe there were bad
   sectors I figured). No luck.

While I have your attention....what I need info on (I am novice UNIX
user, trying to gain lots of knowledge quickly) is how to set up my
system: Here is what it is now

      486DX-33
212Mb Maxtor IDE drive as master
340Mb Western Digital Caviar IDE drive as slave
      VGA, floppies, etc
      8Mb Ram
1Mb caching IDE controller (I disable the cache for unix right now)

I have the 340Mb using DOS only, and the 212 split about in half DOS and
386BSD (DR DOS 6.0). I boot off of the 212Mb using OS-BS for DOS or 386BSD.

      I would like:
The 340Mb for NetBSD alone, the 212Mb for DR DOS 6.0 alone.

If I can't do this, can you help me get as close to this as possible. My
goal is to become very conversant with UNIX and it's utilities (get rid of
most of my DOS, if not all eventually as well). I have read the man pages
on disklabel, fsck, newfs, etc. and I am not sure I understand it well
enough to feel comfortable....is there a book that you would reccommend
for me to buy? Basically not the usual commands, but more of the
      administration stuff.

Thanks.....for your time, and help. If you think that there is something
I am overlooking feel free to yell too!
