Its worse than that.  expr does not handle: parens, string expressions
that happen to be numeric, division by zero, or regular expression
error messages.  Many of the same bugs are found in GNU expr, although
both programs are derrived from separate sources.

I have submitted fixes to all of these problems to the patchkit
maintainers, and it is likely that it will be in the next patchkit.
