I've just installed 386BSD 0.1 the other day, and have some questions
that probably in the FAQ:

- What is the major device number for pseudo-terminals? The install
process didn't seem to create any.

- Why does 386BSD keep mucking up the software configuration of my
SMC(WD) ethernet card and what do I do about it?

- Is there a way to extract the sources on some other machine? The machine
that I'm running 386BSD on has a small disk (I had to play some amazing
games to get it to install on a 40MB hard disk), so I would prefer to
extract them on the Ultrix box in the next room that has gobs of space.
However, I can't get anything on the Ultrix box to go beyond the first
file. Reading that they were compressed CPIO files, I tried catting them
all together and decompressing them; no dice. I can get decompress to work
on the _first_ file, and I can then get cpio to look at them, but I can't
go any further than that. Since I can't get the sources, I can't get the
source to extract to see what it's doing.

- On a related note, I don't seem to be able to talk NFS to the Ultrix box
reliably. Of course, this is my first experience with NFS, so I don't know
if it's something I'm doing. After just a little while, the 386BSD box
  says "server not responding."

Help!!
