Part of the success of Linux is due to the participants actively spreading the
word that Linux is available. For instance, about 2 months ago, I think it was
in Unix Review it had a nice article about Linux and a step-by-step User
Friendly installation guide. A little while ago, in comp.windows.x, I was
totally out numbered by the Linux group. The subject was how to provide
X services on a PC. About 5 Linux users, responded to the topic. The
result was that we looked very impressive against the competition:
commercial Unix, X-terminals, DVX, etc..

So I turn to tk/tcl newsgroup, surprise! There was linux but we were ahead
of them in the tk/tcl arena :-)

I go to work and my co-workers who are interested in Unix for the PCs they
ask me about Linux.

Also, I have noticed that Linux users don't even hesitate to acquire 386bsd
technology. When I first posted my patches for XS3 in less than a day the
linux people were eager to get hold of the code. To their surprise Jon
Tombs (Linux) already had the code and a working server :)

What do I think?

We need 386bsd participants to write or tell other people about their
work and 386bsd. Hopefully, this will help to attract individuals that
are willing to contribute.

I think that many, not all, 386bsd users just simply start downloading or
porting to 386bsd and forget about sharing their work with the rest of us:-)
Also, part of the problem is that we have a HIGH Flame rate!!!!
