Amen.

My experiences with sharing code and helping other folks is that
a fairly high percentage of people in the 386BSD arena have an on-going
program of finding weakness and then stomping the poor soul into
the ground.  They seem to think that this militant behavior makes
386BSD "better."  Do what you want, I guess, but I know I'm not the
only one who's wandered off to friendlier fields for their hacking.
What I do for free is supposed to be FUN.
