There are a few problems I seem to be having. (dont you love it when you get things like uucp and news and mail to work perfectly, but small things get you baffled :*) First...I dont seem to be able to retain 8n1 status on the modems. I have 4 dialin modems, which will answers fine in 8n1 (after some hacking around in the getty.c, does that thing even READ gettytab??) But as soon as I start vi, or pico, or nn, or..or..or..bang..im back to 7 bits. Quite annoying. Second..ive been trying and trying and trying...but I cant make a backup! I have an 8gig scsi datplayer, and am trying to backup a 1 gig disk Ive trying dump, which dies in a nice kernel panic.. I tried tar...which works fine for the first 45 minutes..then crashes anyways...and ive tried cpio, which does the same as tar. They error on a timeout on one of the devices..(sorry, being kinda vague, but I cant recall..) Its real scary not having a backup :) I have no idea how to fix this anymore..did I forget something? Maybe increase some buffers or something? In single user mode..it does seem to go a little better..but not much. Third...ive seen some references about it already..but I keep seeing silo overflow errors on all 4 comports. Any fix for that? Im running a 486/66 with 16MB memory and the latest patchkit. (0.2.2 was it?) 1 gig disk, and 8 modems connected.
