  Vanilla 4.3BSD did not include NFS. One of the later updates (Tahoe, Reno,
etc) introduced it. It also introduced a number of kernel instabilities which
made the system crash frequently - we found and fixed about 6 of them the
hard way, but some escaped us.

  It looks like the next stable environment after 4.3-vanilla is 4.4-alpha,
but that release does not include VAX support. We were looking at it, but we
decided to migrate to the Intel 486 architecture (with BSDI's BSD/386).
