There is really NO problem in getting 386BSD mounting disk space from a HP9000.
We are running here HPUX 9.0 on a HP9000/800 and it worked fine since ever.

The only thing to do was, to make shure "root" is not present in more than 8
entries in the "/etc/group" (on 386BSD) file - after removing some root-entries
from this file we were able to mount.
