Suicide is the only option. I have a PANASONIC/MATSUSHITA NON-scsi CDROM
drive, with supplied interface card. The DOS driver is for sound galaxy
cards. The NON-scsi CDROM interfaces seem to have standards, but no-one
will part with the programming information. I have been hassling PANASONIC/
MATSUSHITA for 6->9 months now and I'm hardly any closer than when I started.

The local PANASONIC agent is trying to be helpful, but the factory in Asia
(possibly japan?) is no help. I have given the local office detailed
descriptions of what I need, but the factory reply saying that they don't
understand what I need. If they are capable of designing and building the
things I'm sure capable of a straight answer! A while back sound galaxy
bought out a programmers kit which gave details on how to program the
sound boards, the details for the CDROM weren't included. I have a small
driver for DOS, so if anyone wants to reverse engineer the code be my guest.
There are a number of people after 386BSD (& other variants) driver.

I'm glad I've got that off my chest. The moral of the story is DON'T buy
a NON-scsi CDROM drive if you wan't to use it on something other than DOS.

PS. Bill, programming one of these would make a good magazine article.
