One addition that could be done is to check the ethernet hardare address
to see if it is one of the ones assigned to the manufature of the 
isolan board.  This technique can also be used on the DANPLEX vs WD*xx
problem.  You simple need to get the table from Xerox and see what official
numbers are assigned to DANPLEX or ATT and fail the probe if it does
not match.  Now they may create problems in the future if DANPLEX or ATT
buy another chunk of ethernet addresses.
