This is true of UNIX systems in general - it's not specifically linked to
any special implementation - if you turn off your unix box without sync'ing
first, a few files disappear and an fsck will say it found bad inodes, etc.
etc. and fix it up to some extent... If you're really unlucky, perhaps your
FS will get screwed, but it's certainly not the norm.


By the way, guys, is all this crap really necessary ?

The most important thing about having 386BSD and Linux around is that we
have the CHOICE to make our OWN decisions about what we want to use - all
the ****heads denouncing each other's OS's are just wasting their time - if
they want to support their OS they should do something CONSTRUCTIVE instead
of acting like it's a goddamn English soccer match.

I'm happily using Linux, but only because it was what I came across first -
if I had the extra hard disk space, I'd be more than happy to run both and
decide for myself which one to use.  But until that time, I'll use what
I've got.
