I believe this is a general problem with doing DMA on an ISA bus, I'm
not absolutly certain on that however -- something to do with 24 bit
addresses? (2^24==16777216). There has recently been discussion on
this topic in the developemnet ( or was it bugs ) newsgroup group. It
sounds like some people are working on a solution.

From my understanding, the EISA bus does not have such a problem, so it
wouldn't matter what type of drive you use. Once again, I'm no authority
on this subject -- just passing on what I've been told.

As far as I know, there is no way to limit the amount of memory that 386bsd
uses. The better solution is to find a way to address the memory, or by an
EISA bus machine.
