I get

tar: can't open /dev/rmt8: bad file descriptor

when I try to run tar. (386bsd 0.1, Julians' SCSI drivers, otherwise generic)
Can anybody tell me what the problem is? I created /dev/st* files using a
MAKEDEV that I got from ref.tfs.com, and now I can't get at my tape drive.

Thanks,
pat
