Any suggestions on what the ideal hardware configuration is
for a high performance 386bsd machine with X window?

My guess:

486/66 DX2 motherboard. Any suggestions for MFTR?
Any known conflicts?

BT542 adaptec workalike. Is this supported yet in the lastest patches?

Actix GraphicsEngine 32. Amancio Hasty (of XS3 fame) says it does
120k Xstones. (mebbe it was 100k).

16 megs RAM.

340 meg maxtor or suitable equiv.

500 meg tape drive (mabye 2gig archive python if we can swing it)

17" 1280x1024 76 HZ+ scanrate. Saw a phillips recently that looked
nice. It has the same INVAR shadow mask & flat screen as MAG but a
.26 dot pitch and upto 100 HZ scanning rate. Havent seen them reviewed
of late so I'm leary. Does anyone else have a favorite display that
has a high refresh rate? If I dont find a suitable alternate I'll
probably just get a MAG 15F. The reason for the high refresh rate is
1. It wont beat with the overhead flourescents and (2) If it has
1280x1024 @ 76HZ and above it will also support our new MAC Centris
were going to use for MAC development.

Alta Research NE2000 compatible ethernet. Built in 10base T plus
thin-net & visible status lights for < $115.

What is the closest to this I can find in Shopper?

Thanks for your help,
