How does an Adaptec 1742 (or BUSTEK equivalent) operate (either in
normal mode or 1542 compatability mode)? Specifically,

1) does it act as a EISA 32 bit bus master or use EISA 32 bit DMA?

2) If I specify edge triggered interrupts with the EISA config program, is
this then completely transparent to drivers that use the card?

The reason I'm asking is that I have a HINT motherboard with it's
Ceasar chipset. This board is very cost effective and has "EISA" and
VESA local buses. The catch is that this EISA bus doesn't support
32bit DMA, level triggered interupts, or the EISA sanity timer. It
does suport 32 bit bus masters and edge triggered interrupts. The
only EISA card I expect to use is the scsi controller and I wonder if
I'll have problems with running Windows NT or various flavors of Unix.
