Subject: can't boot 386bsd, original dist.fs or patchkit-0.2.1 version

I spotted this in the BUG LIST, BOOT009

I appear to have the exact same problem.

486/33 OPTI-486WB with 16Mb, AMI BIOS (07/07/91)
It is a new system with just about everything removed and all
CMOS cleverness disabled.
It boots as far as the copyright message then zip.

I have tried the original 386bsd-0.1 dist.fs as well as dist.fs.pk-0.2

It _sometimes_ reports that the keyboard is disconnected (it
isn't).

Has any progress been made on this problem?
[no, unplugging/replugging the keyboard did not help]

Interestingly the system does boot bsdi's bsd/386 (a friend with
the same hardware is running that).

Any assistance appreciated.
