I am looking for ET4000 boards that support the VESA standard in the
XFree86-1.2 Xserver for 386BSD UNIX:
	addressability refresh clock line
                              rate rate frequency
                              [Hz] [MHz] [kHz]
           1024x 768 70 75 57 (VESA)
           1152x 900 70 99 67

For 1024x768 (non-interlaced) the card should provide a clock rate of 75
MHz and for 1152x900 about 100 MHz (not 100% sure about this last rate).
Most ET4000 boards only provide 65MHz enough for 60 Hz in 1024x768 but not
VESA and thus not flicker-free! Some cards provide a 72MHz clock but this
rate can not easily be accessed by XFree-1.2. So I would like to know from the
386BSD UNIX users which ET4000 based boards REALLY are VESA compliant. If I
get enough feedback I will add this information in my overview of 17 inch
monitors so other people wanting to invest in such a monitor know which
card they need with this monitor to get an absolute flickerfree image.

So if you have an ET4000 based board that supports the 1024x768 and/or
the 11522x900 mode in minimal 70Hz I would like to know:
 - type description (does it work with local bus)
 - maximum addressability
 - its clock frequencies according to XFree-1.2
   (as reported with `startx >& starx.log &')
 - its price
 - what monitor do you use
 - your experience (card + monitor)
 - eventually the performance in xstones.

I have checked with `archie xbench.tar.Z' where the xbench program can be
found. But I get a lot of different versions (size and dates). Can somebody
tell us what the official version is of xbench for 386BSD UNIX?

For your convenience I have collected the ET4000 boards from modeDB.txt
(XFree-1.2) that should in theory be sufficient. See the end of this mail.

Let me know about your ET4000 VESA card!
