Actually, you don't need to change your ident at all.  Ident is used to
identify the kernel, and for specific code you have compiled in that is
different from normal machines.  For example, I have a really dumb SCSI
tape drive that blows up with Julian's drivers. (Drive's fault, not
Julian's) I made an #ifdef NATEPC around my fixes to the driver, so that
the only time that gets compiled in is when NATEPC is defined.
