I thought that was all that is required, but it is possible the XFree86
doesn't yet know about the Bell IOCTL yet.

Hmm, I would suggest that something isn't installed right..   Try a
make clean first, and see if that happens.  I just tried to re-create the
problem, and if I delete the y.tab.h file in obj, things get in a funny
state.

It really needs to be re-compiled.
