   Hi there,
	   I have a Matsushita/Panasonic CR-522-B CD-ROM drive, AT interface,
and I'm after low level programming information, ie NOT the DOS driver
interface. I need this to write a device driver for 386BSD UNIX. I have
asked the countries' Panasonic people and they don't have the info (they
will have to ask Japan). The drive is connected by a small card that
comes with it (LMEP0084B or equiv [Matsushit part #]) and will have the same
programming interface as the Sound Galaxy card, as they provide the DOS Sound
Galaxy driver with it (and it works!).

If you have any information that will help me, or pointers where to
look, please send me some mail, etc.

I don't have the info, but I believe there is more than one AT-Bus
"standard" for CD-ROM drives...

Since expensive SCSI CD-ROM drives are still evolving too fast for my
taste, I got an inexpensive AT-BUS interface CD-ROM from a company
called Mitsumi that I assumed would work with my brand-new
Sound-Blaster 16ASP. Well I should have known better... (will I *ever*
learn?) The Sound-Blaster failed to work when the Mitsumi drive was
connected to the CD-ROM connector...

It came with a 16-bit interface card (why do you guess?) and DOS
drivers. (BTW even the pins of the 4 pin audio connector didn't match
those of the SB16 ASP.) It can be configured to quite a lot of I/O
addresss and supports 16-Bit motherboard DMA.

There is no address of the company anywhere and the manual seems to be
an OEM version that doesn't even include a copyright. It's cheap,
sells like hot-cakes and work just fine under DOS and Windows...

Does anybody have any more info on this drive?
