Along with the FREE price come ports and patches faster than any
   Corporation can crank out.

I believe this is a load of bull.

386bsd is deep down inside BSD. Most of the bugs are in the 386 component
that Jolitz wrote. Therefore, most of the patches that happen with 386bsd
are either fixing code that was broken in (and, generally WORKS and is BETTER
written in BSDI's code, considering that they much more about how pc's really
work, ie. they TALK WITH VENDORS).

Also, if you think that any patches being applied to the BSD component of
the source are not being looked at carefully by some person at BSDI, you
are fooling yourself. (Not speaking for BSDI)

Every single one of us who posts patches is helping them (and I have no
problem with that. In fact, here's an offer to BSDI that if they want to
use my YP code (my only serious contribution so far) they can.) Company
or individual, I don't care. They are not making money from hacking the
operating system, they are making money from supporting it, with their
hard earned knowledge of the internals over the last N years. BSDI,
Cygnus, I can't smell any real difference.
