I have recently tried to install 'small_X11' which is just the server
and an xterm client from XFree86.

I used a mouse driver for a Microsoft Bus Mouse by Erik Forsberg, and I
have an Orchid Pro-designer II (and a monitor capable of 1024x768 NI).

My initial trials were done whilst using the sos-syscons package (I like
the virtual consoles - and I know that they aren't available whilst using
X).

I didn't install the patches that came with the small_X11 tar file since
it appeared that the 0.2 patchkit had already done it.

There is a problem with the mouse...it will only move to it's new position
after pressing a key on the keyboard! (It's a little bit difficult to use
like that!) Is this a problem with sos-syscons, the mouse driver or
what?

Also, I can get 640x480, 800x600 (using the defaults in Xconfig) but when
I try to go to 1024x768 (NI) I get a mis-timed screen. My monitor manual
has all the figures in that are required in the Xconfig file but it says
that in 1024x756 mode the clock frequency is 65Mhz. My PDII has a 62MHz
crystal on it. I spent some time adjusting figures as suggesting in the
config instructions but after a while my brain switched into Z80 mode and
I didn't get anywhere! Has anyone got any figures that work? My monitor
is a "TI'KO" (which is a badged panasonic - but I don't know the model
number off hand!)

Thanks in advance...

Lee.
