I could be mistaken, but I believe that the "anti-Diamond" attitude you
seem to be seeing is the result of Diamond's refusing to supply technical
details of their card that the X folks need to support X.  Well, not outright
refusal, but they want folks to sign non-disclosure agreements and such.
That approach works well in competitive software markets, but not for a free
OS.
