I installed the 386BSD binaries along with XFree86 1.1 on my machine a few
days ago but I haven't been able to get the X server to work properly.
The machine is a 486SX-25 w/8MB, 170MB IDE drive, and ET4000 video.
I'm pretty sure the Xconfig file is correct and the server recognizes
the video card. When I start X, it displays all the correct information
up to the part about SpeedUp being enabled, and then it tries to go into
graphics mode for about a second after which it goes back to text.
I don't get a shell prompt, the drive activity light stays on and the
only thing I can do is press a key which causes the machine to reboot.
I've tried about five different kernels including the one I found in the
XFree directory. Any ideas?
