I assume this means you ahve already a label on there, just not 
exactly what you want..

Strictly speaking, no, but don't chance it.. use b until you
know what you're doing.

yes, THAT should work.
assuming you have vi... it uses vi to edit the table.
(actually $EDITOR)

386bsd (on some disk types) must start on a track boundary.
if there is a DOS bootblock, (you have to have have one
if you've got more than one type of partition) then it takes
up the first block of the first track so 386bsd moves up to the 
next track.

1024/8196 is the most efficient in terms of cpu utilisation
(speed) but 4096/512 saves a LITTLE space (on average 512 bytes per file)

yes

not really, MSDOS may be able to use that first track.
The main difference is on LARGE drives, 
where the BIOS is incapable of reaching past 1GB (no matter how you
translate the drive). DOS must be all below that
address.
