The problem was the select portion of the busmouse driver I was using.

I found one that works:

	Host snowhite.cis.uoguelph.ca
	  Location: /pub
	   FILE -rw-rw-r--      10519  Oct 19 10:58  386bsd-busmouse.tar.Z
